Transition Days

The goal of our Prep Transition Mornings is to ensure a smooth and happy start to school life, not only on Day 1, but throughout each child's educational path.

The dates of our Prep 2026 Transition Mornings are:

  • Term 4, Week 3: Monday 20 October 2025, 9:00-9:45am
  • Term 4, Week 5: Monday 3 November 2025, 9:00-9:45am
  • Term 4, Week 7: Monday 17 November 2025, 9:00-9:45am
Our future prep students are to be dropped at our Prep Playground at 8:45am on the morning of the Prep Transition with our Prep Teachers. Students will need a clearly named hat and water bottle for the morning.

We encourage families to attend at least one of these events. If signing up for twins, we will require the sign up to be completed twice.

To give you an understanding of what will happen on the Prep Transition Mornings, we have put together the rough schedule below:

  • 8:45am: Parents and children arrive at the Prep Playground and begin 'free play'
  • 8:50am: Moggill staff will be wearing orange vests and handing out name tags to each child as they move around the playground
  • 8:55am: Moggill staff will quietly remind parents (as not to upset any children with an announcement that their loved ones are leaving) that it is time to leave to have coffee with Chappy Niki at the coffee shop across the road where Chappy Niki is happy to answer any questions parents may have
  • 9:00am: Moggill Prep teachers will take children with them to their classroom for arts, craft and free play (this will be done randomly as this isn't about students meeting their teacher for 2026 it is about them feeling a sense of belonging at Moggill SS)
  • 9:40am: Moggill Prep teachers will return to the Prep Playground with the children
  • 9:45am: Parents will return to collect their children from the Prep Playground.  Parents may take their child home as soon as they see their child arrive in the playground as this concludes the Transition Morning unless you have any questions for our leadership team.
So we can accurately resource the mornings, we require parents to complete the following form: https://forms.office.com/r/W6f5tqz2NC

Early Years Calculator

Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program in primary schools and has a defined curriculum. Children attend Monday to Friday from 8:50am to 3:00pm.

Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol.

Use the online calculator to see when your child can start Prep. Simply select your child's month and year of birth.

SRS Information

To provide parents with a cost effective alternative to purchasing textbooks and/or resources elsewhere, Moggill State School operates a Student Resource Scheme for Instrumental Music. The scheme ensures that students have resources required for them to engage with the curriculum for their education, and saves parents time and money in sourcing the prescribed materials elsewhere. Savings are gained through the school's bulk purchasing practices and hiring arrangements. The scheme is not used to raise funds for other purposes, and revenue collecting through the scheme is applied only to the resources and operations of the scheme.

The Prep Resource Scheme covers stationery items such as: Pencils, Crayons, Markers, Tape, Glue Sticks, Scissors, Excercise Books, Scrapbooks, Paper, Folders, and many more items required within the classroom for student use.

Information relating to our current Prep SRS can be found under Forms & Documents on our website.
