I am very excited to inform you that due to the fact that we are at 97% of our school's student enrolment capacity, Moggill State School has been allocated a new General Learning Area block by the Department of Education.
The new two-storey building will be similar in design to E Block and will be situated on the area between the existing Year 3 classrooms and the play oval adjacent to the parent carpark. The block will be north-facing and have views down to the play ovals, adventure playgrounds and nature area.
The first design stage of the project has been completed with works set to commence early in 2020. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2020, ready for use in 2021.
Some features of the $5.9 million project are:
Two Prep classrooms with a kitchen and withdrawal rooms
Two Art/STEM purpose-built classrooms
Four General Classrooms
Six student toilets
Outdoor Learning Areas
Covered walkways to E Block
I will include the design plans in next week's newsletter and also present them at next week's P&C and School Council meetings.
This is very exciting news for our school and I look forward to working with the department, project managers and the build team to deliver this wonderful new facility with minimal disruptions to our school community.
