Moggill staff are in the final stages of developing the class lists for 2020. As you can appreciate, this is an extremely complex task with many sensitive and sometimes conflicting factors to consider when deciding each student's placement. Whilst we have endeavoured to accommodate all parent requests, this has not always been possible.
Parents will receive an email on Wednesday 11 December informing them of their child's class teacher for 2020. This decision is in response to many parents requesting that the school inform families of class placements in the final week of school, instead of the Friday before school commences as has been the case in previous years.
Another change this year is that full class lists will not be provided to individual parents.
Please be aware that the class model is subject to change until Thursday 6 February 2020, so it is important to let your child know that some changes may occur. This is due to the department's funding model for schools. Each school's staffing allocation is based on the enrolment numbers on the eighth day of the school year (Day 8). Currently our enrolment numbers are 756, which means we are eligible for 31 classes. We have developed a 32 class model based on the fact that historically, up to 30 students enrol at our school in the first two weeks of the school year. Schools rely on historical data to predict enrolment numbers and as such, our draft model is subject to factors outside of our control.
If changes are made, generally it only impacts on one or two year levels, depending upon which year level our new students are enrolled.
