The annual senior school athletics carnival was conducted on the lower oval last week with both days presenting good weather. Great competition and friendly rivalry, the hallmarks of our school competitions, were pleasing to see.
Congratulations to the students who gained places in the individual age championships. They can be viewed by clicking on this link.
In the house points, Pegasus claimed victory for the first time in 25 years and their excitement was plain to see. Well done Pegasus! When the dust settled, and points were totalled, the final placings for the houses were:
Champions - Pegasus  529
Runner-up - Mercury  504
3rd - Thor 497
4th - Apollo 382
The tug-o-war competition resulted in Apollo and Pegasus houses finishing on equal points. Time restrictions meant the houses were unable to compete for outright victory but instead were happy to share the prize.
Thank you to parents and families who came and supported our students and lent assistance with some of the field events. I especially wish to thank our Carnival Co-ordinator, Mr Pfeffer, for the huge amount of effort he engages in this carnival to ensure it runs smoothly. I would also like to thank our groundsman, Mr Rutherford, for his efforts in setting up and putting away much of the equipment used for the carnival. Thank you to all staff involved for your valuable assistance on the day and finally to our House Captains for your exceptional work throughout.
Students who are eligible for selection in the district sports will be notified this week.
