National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence

Moggill State School takes a strong stance against bullying! We will proudly stand united as a school community with schools across Australia on Friday, 16 March to mark the eight National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA). Along with other Australian schools, we will send a powerful message that bullying and violence, in any form, in or outside the classroom, is NOT ok at any time. By working together as a school community we can make a difference to stamp out bullying and violence.

It is our moral purpose as a school community to work in partnership (between school and home) to develop socially responsible citizens. Children will make social mistakes and at times make socially unacceptable choices with their behaviour. An important part of our role is to work together to identify the behaviour, supporting children to understand the impact this behaviour has on themselves and others, ultimately learning to make better informed and responsible behaviour choices. In most cases these situations are a normal part of growing up and are important learning opportunities we can use to teach children about school and societal behavioural expectations.

At MSS we do not tolerate bullying! We appreciate the support from parents/carers in identifying situations early, working with us to support children to own their behaviour, enabling children to take appropriate responsibility for their choices. We will continue to raise awareness of our high expectations around behaviour at MSS.
I encourage parents/carers to have open and honest conversations with your children about bullying of all forms. If you have any concerns or questions relating to bullying, please discuss them with your child’s class teacher in the first instance or contact the Administration Team for further advice.
