Active School Travel

Our school is fortunate to participate in the Active School Travel initiative of the Brisbane City Council. This initiative promotes travelling to school via walking, riding, scootering, using public transport or even carpooling. The aim is to promote healthy and sustainable travel to school and empower our students and community to live healthier, happier and more environmentally sustainable lives. Every Wednesday, students and their families are invited to ‘actively travel’ to school. Each class records how students travelled on that day and a class award is presented on assembly. Last year we had many classes averaging over 85% of students ‘actively traveling’ to school. As this is the second year of the initiative at MSS, the passbook program only involves new Prep students. For more information, speak to Acting Deputy Principal Ross Hill or the AST website.
